The #1 thing you can do to grow your business is to invest time taking care of your health.
This may sound counterintuitive, but it’s true.
The more you invest in your health, the more your business will grow.
It’s no different than when you’re on an airplane and they tell you to dawn your own oxygen mask first before assisting a child.
Your physical health needs to be good first, before everything else in your life can thrive.
It’s why I religiously exercise every single day first thing in the morning – to reset my body and my mind.
It also helps to think that sweat is your fat crying. It motivates me to kick its ass and make it burn!
The best ideas will come to you while you’re working out.
You’ll have higher energy levels to keep plowing through long days.
The energy that you feel afterwards will alter your emotional state and help you in every interaction you have with others that day.
At the end of the day, the reason you’re building your business is for a better life, so don’t throw away your health in the process.
When I first started in business, all I did was eat crap and code. I worked 100 hours a week and ate Burger King and other shit food because it was easy. One day I weighed myself and I had ballooned to 265lbs.
I was disgusted with myself.
It took a while, but over the next few years I got back down to 220 where I’ve been hovering around (+/- 10lbs) for 10 years.
The biggest change I made was the decision to sweat every single day.
It can be as little as a 15 minute run, as long as I get my heart pumping and my fat crying. No excuses.
It may sound simple, but it’s helped me to stay on track when I had no interest whatsoever in doing so.
Some days I’m flying all day, so I’ll do some power walking during a layover at the airport. It’s better than nothing.
If you get your body right, your mind will follow.
If you want to grow your business, start with your health, it has a positive compounding effect on your life.
